Pukeko Update

With the first week of swimming over we have a very tired group of children. They have all been very well behaved at the pool and have been having a great time in their lessons at Graham Condon. We are having some issues with uniforms not being named and being misplaced. Could you please make sure all clothes are clearly named so we do not have these issues in week 5. We are swimming every day this week - Monday to Thursday.
We have been looking at patterning with math equipment over the past week and are very pleased with the number of children that can pattern with 2, 3 and even 4 different shapes, colours etc. Many are able to explain why their pattern is a pattern.

We have been completing assessment for the end of year reporting to parents which is coming up on the 5th and 6th of December. The children have been working hard all year and we are very much looking forward to having them share their success and progress with you.

We read Maui and the Sun last week and that lead to a whole bunch of questions about space. I was very impressed with how all of the children were able to ask a good question. Over the next couple of weeks we will explore these questions a little and we thought it might be a good place to start at home. If you are able to take the time the research 1 or 2 of these questions and bring in/email the information to us that would be great.

The questions
Are aliens real on other planets?
Are there other suns/solar systems?
Are there rocket ships in space?
Why do stars shine at night?
How many stars are in the sky?
Can people live on other planets?
